JQCommon Room:
Big ideas, real community
We are big on place-making here at Quartermasters. Situated in the Jewellery Quarter, we are surrounded by industry, makers, residents, and retail. It’s a mix of communities that doesn’t really exist anywhere else.
We are partners in a project called JQ Common Room, a consortium of organisations based in the Jewellery Quarter working together to celebrate and strengthen our vibrant communities. You can read more about JQCommon Room here, JQCommonRoom, but here’s a short resume of the project.
The Vision: The Common Room programme will ignite creativity and collaboration in the Jewellery Quarter, connecting artists, craftspeople, and businesses to fuel economic growth and amplify the area's unique cultural impact. It will create a thriving, sustainable community at the heart of the JQ through dynamic spaces, events, and research.
The Mission: To empower Jewellery Quarter businesses, artists, and craftspeople by creating a platform for growth, enhancing their social and economic impact, and attracting new talent to the cluster area.
The values and guiding principles: The Cultural Action Area (CAA) will deliver economic impact and social impact through a programme which looks to the future and is distinctive, relevant, authentic and promotes the unique skills and expertise found in the JQ as together we:
RE-ANIMATE… strengthen local economy
RE-SHAPE… empower, provide a legacy
